Six Suhrawardy Hospital doctors test positive for Covid-19
Two of the Covid-19 infected physicians are husband and wife, and both are being treated at the hospital
Six physicians at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital have tested positive for the Covid-19, Dr Uttam Barua, the director of the hospital, told The Business Standard.
Two of them are being treated at the hospital and the other four are being treated at home.
Uttam Barua said, "We are not sure how the six physicians of our hospital were infected with Coronavirus. Two of the Covid-19 infected physicians are husband and wife, and both are being treated at the hospital."
One of the physician who tested positive to Covid-19 said his sample was sent on Wednesday, and the test result came out positive today. He is in isolation at home. A sample from his wife, who is also a physician, will be tested tomorrow.
After the six doctors were diagnosed with Covid-19, more than 15 physicians in the Anaesthesia and ICU department at Suhrawardy Hospital were kept in quarantine, according to a source.
Suhrawardy Hospital was recently designated as a dedicated hospital to treat Covid-I9 patients. The hospital will officially start admitting patients infected with the novel Coronavirus from next Wednesday, said Uttam Barua.
He said that four Covid-19 patients are already being treated here.
Because the Kuwait-Maitree, Kurmitola and Mahanagar hospitals refused to admit a pregnant woman who was diagnosed with Covid-19, we admitted her here, the hospital director added.
