Covid-19 cases cross 3.5 lakh in 197 days
The latest daily infection rate was 13.06% while the overall rate stood at 19.11%
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh has reached 350,621 with the diagnosis of 1,705 new patients in the last 24 hours till early Monday.
Further, 40 more people died from the virus in that time, bringing the death toll to 4,979 and death rate to 1.42%, according to a statement of the Directorate General of Health Services.
Bangladesh reported its first three Covid-19 infections on March 8 and it took just 197 days to cross the 3.5 lakh mark of confirmed cases.
The latest daily infection rate was 13.06% and the overall rate stood at 19.11%.
A total 13,053 samples have been tested in 99 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. So far 1,834,323 samples have been tested overall.
Of the deceased, 27 were men and 13 women. Twenty-six of them were from Dhaka division, nine from Chattogram, two from Rangpur, and one each from Rajshahi, Barishal and Khulna.
Thirty-seven of them died at hospitals, two at home, and one tested positive posthumously.
Meanwhile, the total number of recovered patients reached 258,717 – including 2,152 new people – in the last 24 hours, and the recovery rate rose to 73.79%.
Up to now, 3,873 men and 1,106 women have succumbed to Covid-19 across the country.
Of the victims: 2,449 were from Dhaka division, 1,035 from Chattogram, 417 from Khulna, 331 from Rajshahi, 234 from Rangpur, 221 from Sylhet, 185 from Barishal, and 107 from Mymensingh.
