CCCI director is among 148 new Covid-19 patients in Chattogram
32 patients recovered from the coronavirus in Chattogram in the last 24 hours
Some 148 people including Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Director Md Ahid Siraj Chowdhury were tested for Covid-19 in Chattogram in the last 24 hours.
During this period, five fresh cases of deaths from the novel coronavirus were reported in the district.
Chattogram's Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said 721 samples were tested for Covid-19 in Chattogram in the last 24 hours. Of those, results of 148 came out positive.
Out of the 148 newly diagnosed patients, 94 are residents of the port city and 54 are residents of various upazilas of the district, he added.
During the period, some 112 samples were tested in the University of Chittagong, of which 34 tested positive. Meanwhile, 269 samples were tested in the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) lab and results of 23 came out positive.
In Chittagong Medical Colleges (CMC) lab, 110 samples were tested and 61 of those tested positive for Covid-19. Some 124 samples were tested in Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University lab, of which 24 were found infected with the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, eight samples out of 98 tested in private Imperial Hospital lab were found coronavirus positive.
Besides, 32 patients recovered from the coronavirus in Chattogram in the last 24 hours.
As of Thursday, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the district is 5,763 and 131 people have died of the disease.
