Under programme-1, they have distributed 100 bags of food items in the capital’s Agargaon Slum area
Environment organisation Clean Green Bangladesh and social organisation Garib Foundation on Monday jointly inaugurated their "CGB-GF Food Item Distribution Programme" through distributing daily necessities among jobless, poor and helpless people in Dhaka.
Under programme-1, they have distributed 100 bags of food items in the capital's Agargaon Slum area. Each bag contains two kg of rice, one packet (two kg) of flour, one litre of soybean oil, two kg of potatoes and half a kg of lentil.
"The country-wide shutdown to curb the novel coronavirus outbreak has caused havoc on the low-income people including day labourers, rickshaw pullers, contract-based daily housemaids, and beggars who live from hand to mouth, making them jobless and starving. To help them, we initiated a fund through a Facebook group on March 24," said GM Kibria, the chief coordinator of Clean Green Bangladesh and general secretary of Garib Foundation.
Our members and volunteers from across the country have donated to the fund. Besides, many wealthy people and expatriates have sent money to us, he added.
Under Chattogram Programme-2, we will distribute food items in Chattogram tomorrow (Tuesday). We will arrange a similar programme in Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, Bogura, Chuadanga, Rajshahi, Khulna and other CGB units in the country until the present situation is changed, he said further.
GM Kibria urged wealthy people in the society to lend a hand to the poor in this time of crisis by donating to their fund.
