Covid-19 cases cross 8,000 in Chattogram, 346 cases in 24 hrs
Samples of 997 people were tested in seven labs in the last 24 hours and 346 came out positive for coronavirus
The number of Covid-19 cases in Chattogram has exceeded 8,000. On Sunday, 346 people were identified and two people died from the viral infection.
This is the highest number of Covid-19 cases detected in one day in the district.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon's Office said this on Monday morning.
Samples of 997 people were tested in seven labs in the last 24 hours and 346 came out positive for coronavirus. Of the Covid-19 patients, 274 live in Chattogram city and 72 are from different upazilas.
A total of 8,035 people are infected with coronavirus while 171 people have died from the viral infection in Chattogram so far.
Among the affected people, 5,515 are residents of Chattogram city and 2,520 are residents of different upazilas.
Of the deceased, 131 were from the city while 40 were from different upazilas.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, "In the last 24 hours, samples of 101 people were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Fauzdarhat and 14 people were found coronavirus positive."
Besides, samples of 144 people were tested in Chattogram Veterinary University lab and 28 were found positive for the virus. Chattogram Medical
College Lab tested 112 samples and 45 came out positive for the virus. Samples of 167 people were tested in Chattogram University lab where 56 were found positive for Covid-19 and samples of 110 people were tested for coronavirus in Private Imperial Hospital Lab and 24 came out positive.
Samples of 218 people were tested at Chevron Lab last Saturday and 134 on Sunday. Of these, 177 came out coronavirus positive. Cox's Bazar Medical College Lab tested 11 samples from Chattogram and four were found positive for the virus.
So far, 965 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Chattogram.
