Covid-19 claims 10 more lives
The country’s death toll from the virus now stands at 8,451
Bangladesh has recorded 10 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 540 new cases in the last 24 hours till Saturday at 8am.
With the fresh figures, the country's Covid-19 death toll now stands at 8,451 while the number of positive cases rose to 549,724, said a press statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total tests, the latest day's infection rate was 4.13%, though the overall Covid-19 positivity rate in the country till date was 13.30%. The overall fatality rate in the country now stands at 1.54%.
Among the latest day's victims, seven were men and three were women. Of them, four hailed from Dhaka, two each from Chattogram and Rajshahi, and one each from the Khulna and Barishal divisions.
All of them died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 13,082 samples were tested in 219 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,132,113 samples have so far been tested in the country.
On Saturday – the 22nd day of the mass vaccination campaign – Bangladesh inoculated 100,983 people. The country has vaccinated 3,682,152 people since the campaign began on 7 February.
The country's maiden Covid-19 cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
