Bangladesh reports highest single-day infection in 47 days
The country logged 25 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours

Bangladesh recorded 1,736 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours until Monday 8:00 am -- the highest single-day infection since September 15.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 4,10,988, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Alongside, the country logged 25 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the death tally to 5,966.
The latest day's infection rate was 13.47% of the total tests — the highest in over a month. The overall rate in the country till date was 17.40%. The death rate stands at 1.45%.
In the past 24-hour, 1,961 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 3,27,901 with a 79.78% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 20 were men, and five were women. All of them died at different hospitals across the country.
Fifteen of the deceased hailed from Dhaka, three each from Chattogram and Sylhet, two from Khulna, and one each from Rajshahi and Rangpur.
Meanwhile, 12,891 samples were tested in 113 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 23,61,702 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,588 of the total deceased were men and 1,378 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year while the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
