Bangladesh has logged 31 more deaths from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours until Tuesday 8am, while 2,293 people have tested positive for the virus.
The country's Covid-19 death toll now stands at 6,675 and the number of positive cases in the country stands at 467,225, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest day's infection rate was 14.79% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 16.76%. The death rate stands at 1.43%.
Around 2,513 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 383,224 with an 82.02% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 17 were men and 14 were women. All of them died at different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 23 of them hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram and one each from the Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Meanwhile, 15,501 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,788,202 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,116 of the total deceased were men and 1,559 were women.
The number of people placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours is 1,162. Now, 40,783 people are in quarantine across the country, it read.
In the last 24 hours, 261 suspected Covid-19 patients were taken into isolation and 198 left isolation. Now, 12,929 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
