Bangladesh recorded 36 more deaths from the novel coronavirus during the last 24 hours, till 8am Saturday.
The country's death toll from the lethal virus now stands at 6,580 with a death rate of 1.43%, reads a press statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
A total of 1,908 new infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total infected people to 4,60,619.
Out of total tests, the positivity rate was 13.62% on the latest day.
In the last 24 hours, 2,209 patients were declared free of Covid-19, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,75,885
The total recovery rate in the country now stands at 81.60%.
Among the latest day's victims, 28 were men and eight were women. They all died while undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country.
Of them, 30 hailed from Dhaka division, three from Khulna and one each from Chattogram, Barishal and Rangpur division.
A total of 14,012 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.
So far, 27,43,592 samples have been tested in the country.
The country's maiden Covid-19 case was reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
