Ctg port engineer dies with Covid-19 symptoms
He started suffering from difficulties in breathing on Sunday around 12 noon
Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Assitant Engineer of Chattogram port died on Sunday with symptoms similar to those of the novel coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
"His mother also died last week with Covid-19 symptoms," Chief Engineer (mechanical) of Chattogram port Aminul Islam told The Business Standard.
Sources at Chattogram port said, Mizanur Rahman was staying at home isolation after his mother died with Covid-19 symptoms. He started suffering from difficulties in breathing on Sunday around 12 noon.
Upon informing the port authorities, they immediately sent an ambulance. After an initial attempt to admit him into a private hospital failed, he was rushed to CMCH.
"Earlier, a mechanic named Anowar Parvez from the mechanical department died two days ago while undergoing treatment at Chattogram General Hospital. He also had symptoms similar to those of Covid-19," Aminul Islam said.
He further said that a port official died of Covid-19 on May 5. He didn't disclose the deceased official's name. Aminul Islam said that 3 officials of the port's mechanical department died with Covid-19 symptoms while 3 have tested positive to the virus.
Omar Faruque, secretary of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) said, 6 officials of the port have died either of Covid-19 infection or the symptoms so far.
