The authority of Chittagong University (CU) has locked down the campus for 14 days after one of the employees at the Vice-Chancellor's office was diagnosed with Covid-19.
The lockdown will come into force from today.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, CU Proctor Robiul Hasan Bhuiyan said, "The decision was made by CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shireen Akter during an emergency meeting held with syndicate members of the university on July 3.
"During this lockdown period, no one will be allowed to travel on the campus and neither can enter the restricted areas without emergency purpose."
"No administrative activities will be conducted on the campus at that time, except for the emergency administrative activities to be conducted from the office of the Institute of Fine Arts in Chattogram city," he further added.
According to university sources, Jahangir Alam, who is the deputy registrar and personal secretary of CU Vice-Chancellor, tested Covid-19 positive last week.
