DGHS suspends Covid-19 testing permission of Aalok Health Care
The DGHS made the move as it found several irregularities in the hospital’s laboratory
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has asked the capital's Aalok Health Care and Hospital to suspend its Covid-19 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing.
The DGHS made the move as a team from the directorate went to the hospital for inspection on September 3 and found several irregularities there, read a letter signed by DGHS Director (Hospital and Clinic) Dr Md Farid Hossain Miah on Tuesday.
The private hospital was collecting samples for Covid-19 testing in an under construction building that does not have the approval of the DGHS, the team observed.
The DGHS team also found that the laboratory did not have its own autoclave and had a poor waste management system.
Earlier, an inspection team of the directorate visited the laboratory in July and recommended for its infrastructural reform. But no progress has been made in this direction.
