Emergency unit of Narayanganj General Hospital shut
3 health worker tested corona positive
The emergency department of Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital at has been temporarily shut down on Monday night as one ward boy and two nurses tested coronavirus positive.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Narayanganj Civil Surgeon Dr Md Imtiaz Ahmed said, "Those three health workers have been put into isolation after the test results came positive from Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR)."
"The emergency department may be reopened on Tuesday after disinfecting," he added.
"On March 29, a woman from Rasulbag came with stroke and pneumonia symptoms at the emergency department. One doctor primarily treated her and by his instruction one ward boy pushed injection and one nurse from pathology department took her blood sample," said Asadujjaman, the residential medical officer of the hospital.
That woman died On March 30 at Kurmitola Hospital and her test result came positive, he added.
"Also two other patients took treatment hiding their disease. Therefore, some health workers were taken to home quarantine and tested. Among them three came positive on Monday night," the doctor said further.
Except the emergency department, treatment in outdoor and other parts of the hospital will continue.
Four people have died of novel coronavirus by far in Narayanganj and 23 people have been infected. 17 people are being treated now.
