Former state minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Major General (retd) Anwarul Kabir Talukder, BNP-backed former lawmaker of Jamalpur-4 constituency, has died from the novel coronavirus today.
He breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at 2:25pm Sunday, said his younger brother Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim.
Anwarul Kabir was admitted to the CMH with fever on May 5.
His cousin Habibullah Talukder, head of Department of Cancer Epidemiology of National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital, said, "Anwarul Kabir was undergoing treatment at the ICU after being diagnosed with Covid-19."
Anwarul Kabir Talukder, nephew of BNP's former secretary general Abdus Salam Talukder, was elected as parliament member in 2011 from Jamalpur-4 (Sharishabari) constituency.
