A man, who had died with Covid-19 symptoms in Chattogram on Thursday, tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday.
"This is the first death from the coronavirus infection in Chattogram," Noor A Alam, Satkania upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), confirmed it on Saturday night.
He said after the death of the man, a sample was taken from his body to conduct a test for the coronavirus at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease. On Saturday, the report came positive, Noor said.
"We have already taken measures to lock down the departed man's residence and identify the people who took part in his funeral. We will ensure quarantine of those people," said the UNO.
