The five went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital and Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital for treatment, reports Somoy News
A pregnant woman and four others infected with coronavirus have not received proper medical attention even after visiting three hospitals in the city.
The five went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital and Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital for treatment, reports Somoy News.
They first went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital early on Tuesday but the authorities there sent them to Kurmitola General Hospital by an ambulance.
The Kurmitola General Hospital authorities told them the coronavirus isolation ward was full, and sent them to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital.
The Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital authorities admitted one of them and sent the four others back.
After a lot of hassle, the four went back to Dhaka Medical College Hospital without proper protection.
Finally, with the help of a doctor and Somoy TV, the Kurmitola General Hospital admitted them at 8am on Tuesday.
But the problems did not end there. Even after admission, no doctor has yet attended any of the five patients.
The pregnant woman told Somoy TV, "I got admitted but no doctor came to see me. The nurses gave me a bedsheet and told me to stay here."
Experts told Somoy TV that such mismanagement was not desirable in the present situation.
They said the health department's inefficiency would overshadow the sacrifices the doctors were making to fight this pandemic.
Medicine specialist Ridwanur Rahman told Somoy TV, "A change is necessary in the way we manage the health sector. Otherwise, doctors will be seen as guilty and patients will suffer as well."
Neither the health department nor the hospital authorities could be contacted in this regard.
