Joint chief of the Planning Commission dies from Covid-19
Lutfor Rahman Tarafder, joint chief (joint secretary) of the Planning Commission, died from coronavirus on early hours of Friday at Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in the capital.
Farid Aziz, joint secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) and former general secretary of the Economic Cadres Association, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Lutfor Rahman, 56, was an officer of the newly dissolved Economic Cadre of the 8th batch. He was the vice-president of the Economic Cadre Association.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter to mourn his death.
"The health condition of Lutfor Rahman was slowly improving after he was admitted to hospital with coronavirus. He was taking his meals regularly," Farid Aziz said.
"But as his health condition started to deteriorate on Thursday night, he was put under ventilator. He started having difficulties with breathing. There he passed away early Friday," Farid Azid further added.
Lutfor Rahman joined BCS Cadre Service on December 20, 1989. His village home is in Chanpur village of Jamalpur district.
He was posted as joint chief of the Communication Wing of the Physical Infrastructure Division of the planning commission.
