Lack of maintaining proper social distancing and sanitization norms can be seen among the shoppers in Narayanganj as they are on a shopping spree for Eid-ul-Fitr for the second day after markets reopened in the district.
People are roaming around the streets disregarding social distancing norms and many of them did not have face masks nor hand gloves.
Dis-infection tunnels were not set up in the entrances of the markets and many markets did not have any measures for hand-washing in them. The markets that did set up hand washing booths had no customers using them.
Many shops arranged hand sanitizers for customers to help them sanitize their hands before entering the shops but groups of customers entered the shops without using them.
The shoppers are not maintaining proper social distancing and are getting close to one another while shopping.
Even though it was prohibited to bring children to the markets while shopping, parents are regularly bringing their children to the markets. Most of these children do not have minimum safety protection.
The shoppers had quite a lot of excuses for not maintaining proper sanitization norms. Many of these shoppers said that they came to the markets for their Eid-ul-Fitr shopping.
Some blamed it on their children and said they only came to the markets because to please their children.
One such shopper, Rubina Begum said, "My little boy wanted new clothes for Eid-ul-Fitr and I was forced to come to the market and buy him clothes."
On the other hand, members of the law enforcement are going from market to market, calling maintaining social distance.
Additional Superintendent of RAB 11 Alep Uddin said, "RAB officials have been working from the morning till noon in the markets in the Chashara, Kalirbazar, DIT and other areas of Narayanganj to create awareness among people."
"We are continuously working in the field despite some of our members have been kept in isolation due to coronavirus infections."
"Three teams of RAB 11 are currently working in the field. The team that has been infected with coronavirus has been kept in isolation and is replaced by the second team", added Alep Uddin.
