NBR assistant tax commissioner dies from Covid-19
SM Abul Khayer, assistant tax commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has died from coronavirus on Thursday.
He was undergoing treatment at the capital's Labaid Specialised Hospital, Bangladesh Civil Service Association's President and Tax Commissioner Md Rezaul Karim told The Business Standard.
Abul Khayer was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and liver disease from a long time.
His family members said that he was admitted into Moghbazar's Rushmono Hospital with pneumonia, breathing difficulties and other symptoms of coronavirus on June 18.
As his health condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Labaid Hospital on Wednesday night, where he was on ventilation.
With Abul Khayer, two officials from the income tax department of NBR died from Covid-19 so far.
On June 8, Deputy Tax Commissioner Sudhangshu Kumar Saha died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
