Two garment workers found positive for Covid-19 in Khulna
They returned to their village from Naranyanganj one week ago
Two women who work at a garment factory in Naryanganj have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus after they returned to their hometown Khulna.
Khulna Medical College Hospital on Saturday tested 164 samples in its PCR lab and found the two women positive for the virus, said Dr Mehedi Newaz, vice-principal of the hospital.
Dacope Upazila Health Officer Dr Mozammel Haque said the women are neighbours who live in the upazila's Khatail village. They returned to the village from Naranyanganj one week ago.
The women were quarantined in their homes immediately after their return. The surrounding houses of the women have been locked down, said Mozammel.
Bangladesh, today, confirmed five more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 552 new cases of the virus.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 175 and the number of total infections stood at 8,790.
