Two more members of Bangladesh Police, who were infected with Covid-19, died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka today.
With the death of these two members, the number of deaths from Covid-19 infection in Bangladesh Police jumped to 26, according to a statement of Police Headquarters (PHQ).
The deceased are Sub-Inspector SM Mukul Mia, 55, and Constable Md Abul Hossain Azad, 51.
Mukul Mia worked at Khilgaon Police Station in the capital while Abul Hossain at Azampur Police Outpost in the DMP's Uttara division.
Mukul tested positive for Covid-19 on May 23 and was taking treatments staying at home. However, he later was shifted to Impulse Hospital on May 26 upon deterioration of his condition where he breathed his last at around 11:00am.
Hailing from Charkhuli village of Goplaganj district, he left behind his wife, three daughters and a son.
Abul Hossain was undergoing treatment at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital and he breathed his last around 4:12am today.
Hailing from Joypasha village of Netrakona district, he is survived by his wife and two daughters.
At the initiative of Bangladesh Police, their bodies have been sent to their respective villages and they will be buried in their family graveyards.
