Agrani Bank, bkash distribute govt stipend to students
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the distribution of stipend and tuition fee to the country's lakhs of students under the Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust on Thursday from her official residence Gonobhaban through a video conference.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, education secretary, Agrani Bank Managing Director Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, Chief Executive Officer at bKash and Kamal Kadir, were connected to the video conference.
Following a request by education minister, the Agrani bank and bKash have distributed the stipend and tuition fee among students without taking any commission or charge.
It has saved Tk54 Lakh for the government.
For this humanity, education minister thanked expressed her gratitude to the chief executives of Agrani Bank Limited and the bKash.
Under this programme, Tk102.74 crore has been distributed to 2.1 lakh students through mobile banking service while Tk14 crore to 2,000 educational institutions has been sent through online payment system.
Earlier, Agrani Bank in association with bKash successfully completed distribution of stipend money to 45 Lakh students at lesser cost.
