Mercantile Bank celebrates International Women’s Day
The bank’s Chairman Morshed Alam delivered his speech about the importance of women’s contributions in the Liberation War of 1971 and social development of Bangladesh
Mercantile Bank Limited celebrated International Women's Day-2020 at Fars Hotel & Resorts, Bijoynagar in the capital on Sunday. Women executives and officers of the bank participated in the event.
Morshed Alam, lawmaker and chairman of Mercantile Bank was present as the chief guest at the event, while Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, managing director and chief executive officer of the bank delivered the welcome speech.
The chairman, directors, managing director and spouses of the directors of the bank inaugurated the celebration porgramme by cutting cake.
The bank's Vice Chairmen Al-Haj Akram Hossain and Mohd Selim, as well as, Audit Committee Chairman Dr Md Rahmat Ullah were present at the occasion as special guests alongside Mercantile Bank Foundation Chairman M Amanullah.
Directors of the bank Al-Haj Mosharref Hossain and MA Khan Belal, Additional Managing Director Mati Ul Hasan were also present with Deputy Managing Directors Gaus-Ul-Wara Md Mortaza, Md Zakir Hossain, Adil Raihan, Shamim Ahmed and Dr Md Nurul Islam, as well as, senior executives and officers.

He informed that 30 percent women of the country are currently engaged in the workforce while the government is determined to increase their participation in mainstream economic activities to 50 percent.
The women employees also delivered their speeches on the occasion. All women employees of Mercantile Bank celebrated the day at their respective zonal offices across the country.
