BASIC Bank MD confined to office over salary cut
If the government pay scales are followed here, salaries of different level of employees will be reduced by Tk10,000 to Tk30,000
The employees of BASIC Bank today confined their Managing Director Md Rafiqul Alam to his office at Motijheel in the capital protesting the decision to reduce salary.
Of the state-run banks, only BASIC Bank had separate pay scale. BASIC Bank directors Sunday decided to adopt the government pay scale, which is already implemented by other banks.
If BASIC bank implements its decision, salaries of its employees of different levels will be cut by Tk10,000 to Tk30,000 as they were already being paid higher than the employees of the other banks.
After the bank issued a circular on decision to reduce the salary, employees expressed resentment and protested against the decision.
However, Rafiqul Alam still remained firm on the decision prompting the employees to stage protest.
