FBCCI chief urges D-8 countries to develop exclusive economic zone in Bangladesh
An agreement was signed to intensify cooperation on trade and investment between Bangladesh and the D-8 member countries
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Sheikh F Fahim on Monday urged the D-8 (Developing-Eight) countries to develop an exclusive economic zone in Bangladesh.
The FBCCI president came up with the urge while addressing a discussion in the capital on Monday, says a press release.
Secretary General of D-8 Ambassador Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari was present in the programme.
They signed an agreement following the discussion to intensify cooperation on trade and investment between Bangladesh and the D-8 member countries.
"Bangladesh as a cofounder of D-8 has the potential to enhance its relations with the D-8 countries in trade and investment," said Dato' Ku Jaafar.
Sheikh F Fahim emphasised on the importance of branding the stable macro-economic growth and development of the country.
Bangladesh's track record of sustainable and inclusive growth was presented through an audio-visual display.
Trade relations between Bangladesh and D-8 countries now stands at $5.35billion with exports $1billion and imports $4.35billion in 2018-2019 fiscal year.
