Masudur Rahman joins SME Foundation as chairperson
The DU professor has been appointed to the position that had been lying vacant since the death of the then SME Foundation chairperson KM Habib on June 17
Dr Masudur Rahman, professor of marketing at Dhaka University has joined the SME Foundation as its chairperson.
He officially took over the responsibility on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the foundation.
The post of the foundation's chairperson had been vacant since June 17 this year following the death of the then chairperson KM Habib Ullah, the statement said.
On Monday, the Ministry of Industries issued a notification appointing Masudur Rahman as the new chairperson of the SME Foundation.
According to sources, Masudur Rahman has been an independent director of Dhaka Stock Exchange since 2016. He has also served as a member of the Finance Committee of Dhaka University.
He has worked as a consultant in domestic and foreign development partners and commercial organisations as well.
He graduated from the marketing department of Dhaka University in 1988 and completed his post-graduation there in 1989.
He also obtained his masters from the University of Salford in 1996 and did his PhD at the University of Wales Institute in 2010.
