NBR collects Tk2016 crore in six days
A record 15.13 lakh people take tax-related services
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected Tk2016 crore in the first six days of the ongoing weeklong income tax fairs, across the country.
The revenue board on Tuesday, the sixth day of the fairs, reported a record amount of income tax collection and tax returns submissions.
Around 5.40 lakh taxpayers have filed their income tax returns in the first six days of the fairs, this year, says the NBR data. A record 15.13 lakh people have also taken tax-related services at different venues across the country.
As the fair is drawing to a close, the taxpayers continue to throng the various fair venues, including the central one at Officers' Club in Dhaka, for filing income tax returns, paying taxes and receiving other income tax-related services, the revenue board officials said.
The nationwide fair, taking place at 120 spots including, eight divisional cities, 56 districts and 56 upazilas, will end on Tuesday.
"The tax authority may witness even bigger crowd at the fair venues in the last day as the taxpayers are likely to avail the opportunity of filing their returns in a trouble-free atmosphere the NBR has managed to offer," the revenue board officials said.
