Workers of 320 garment factories including 171 members of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have not been paid their March arrears as of Monday (April 20), though they were directed to pay by April 16.
A total of 2,153 out of 2,274 BGMEA factories have paid their workers, while 121 are under process.
Among the factories that are under process to pay their workers - 21 are in Dhaka metropolitan area, 44 in Gazipur, 13 in Savar-Ashulia, nine in Narayanganj, 31 in Chattogram, and the other factories located in other remote areas of the country.
Workers of 14 garment factories of Savar-Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Mymensingh took to the streets demanding their unpaid wages for the month of March. They blocked roads in the areas to press home their demand.
