Apparel workers in Narayanganj demand reinstatement of terminated ones
Being unable to pay rent and grocery bill, many of them cannot go to their neighbourhood now
Apparel workers have staged demonstrations and rallies in Narayanganj city demanding the reinstatement of terminated ones.
Voicing the same demand, Fatullah's Shovon Silk and Knitting Mills Sramik Sangram Committee held a rally at Narayanganj Central Shahid Minar on Monday.
Mosharraf Hossain, the convener of the committee, presided over the rally.
Garments Sramik Front Narayanganj district President Selim Mahmud, General Secretary Saiful Islam Sharif and Office Secretary Kamal Parvez Mithu also spoke at the rally.
They said more than two hundred workers of Shovon Group were not allowed to join work after month-long general holidays.
"When the workers went to the factory authorities, they repeatedly asked for more time," the labour leaders said.
"And the workers had been forcibly driven away from the factory gate on June 7 as they went to talk to the authorities."
"But these workers are in great pain now as Covid-19 has left them out of work."
"Being unable to pay rent or grocery bill, many of them cannot go to their neighbourhood now."
So the labour leaders demanded the immediate reinstatement of the terminated workers.
