Dividend and profit of Peninsula Hotel increase
In FY 2016-17 and FY 2017-18, the company provided a 5 percent cash dividend
The Peninsula Chittagong has provided a 7.5 percent cash dividend for its shareholders following growth in profit in financial year 2018-19. The net profit of the company increased by 39 percent from the previous year.
In FY 2016-17 and FY 2017-18, the company provided a 5 percent cash dividend.
October 17 has been fixed as the record date for receiving the dividend for FY 2018-19.
After paying tax in FY 2018-19, the net profit of the company is Tk10.32 crore and earnings per share is Tk0.87, an increase of 39 percent compared to that in FY 2017-18.
In FY 2018-19, net asset value per share was Tk31.63.
The company was listed in the share market in 2014, and it made a profit of Tk18 crore in FY 2013-14, the highest profit ever achieved by the company. It provided a 10 percent cash dividend. Next year, they made a profit of Tk14 crore and provided 10 percent cash and a 5 percent stock dividend.
The company has built The Peninsula Chittagong – Airport Garden Hotel beside Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram. And, as a part of extending its business, the company has launched a new coffee shop and bar, and Indian barbeque in the hotel.
Md Nurul Azim, company secretary of The Peninsula Chittagong, told The Business Standard, "We are planning to extend our business. Some of the plans have been implemented, and the construction of a five-star hotel will be completed by the end of next year."
