The Indian wing of Rolling Stone, a popular magazine for music lovers across the world has recently covered the first ever female pop band ‘Laisfita’ in Bangladesh through a feature story.

The four-member band includes - Sunanda Sharmin, Antora Rahman, Ferdousi Moumita and Mustarin Ahmed Sheetal who were the winners of ‘Sunsilk Divas’, the first ever female music reality show of the country, among a list of twenty finalists.
The magazine also interviewed the singers of the band individually.
Talking to the magazine Shunanda Sharmin said that they chose the name Laisfita – a hair ribbon worn by young girls, usually in rural Bangladesh – because it works well with a haircare sponsor and introduces their tradition to the world.
The top twenty finalists of the music competition were selected from a list of audio submissions of aspiring singers.
Sheetal is well-versed in singing Bollywood and Bengali folk songs while Sunanda is passionate about singing international pop songs.
On the other hand, Moumita is a classical music expert and Antora is a talented Bengali folk singer.
As winners of Sunsilk Divas, the four singers received money, phones and a contract with Sony DADC. And, a promise of being involved in a Bollywood song.
The band recently released their debut song ‘Swapno Akhon Amar Haatey’ composed by country’s celebrity singer and also a judge of the music talent hunt, Hridoy Khan.
The other judges were Zohad Reza Chowdhury of the band Nemesis, Sharmin Sultana Sumi of Chirkutt and Alif Alauddin.
The event was conceptualized and produced by Creinse Limited, a music partner of Sony Music Entertainment India.
The competition began in August 2019, driven with the belief that every girl in Bangladesh has an abundance of talent and endless dreams to achieve. All they need is platforms which will open doors of opportunity for them.
The grand finale of Sunsilk Divas was held at International Convention Centre in Basundhara on April 29.
