The very severe cyclonic storm "Amphan" may cross Bangladesh coast between Khulna-Chattogram on May 19 late night to May 20 evening, said a special weather bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The cyclonic storm over southeast bay and adjoining southwest bay was centred about 1260km south-southwest of Chattogram port, 1200km south-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1185km south-southwest of Mongla port and 1165km south-southwest of Payra port, said the special weather bulletin issued at 6am today.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction and then recurve north-northeastwards and may cross the Bangladesh coast.
The BMD asked maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisted local warning signal no 4.
It also advised all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay to stay close to the cost and not to venture into the deep sea until further notice.
