Transform your workspace with colours
The effect of interior colour helps to set the positive tone and boost productivity
Since we spend maximum amount of time at workplaces in enclosed area, the effect of interior colour helps to set the positive tone and boost productivity.
To express a spatial entity, warm colours as red and orange are known to be more stimulating for people than the cool ones like blue and green. But cool colours have more calming influence on our thought process.
"To improve employees' productivity and well-being at workplace, bright and soft shade categories are segregated due to their positive behavioural influences. Softer alternatives of brighter shade-cards appear more soothing and increases ventilation in employees' working spirit." says Reesham Shahab Tirtho, Architect, Studio Terracotta.
Light Colours as white gives sense of purity and cleanliness, enhance crispness and clarity; it is a safe bet, but can equate to being boring and uninspiring. On the other hand, black focuses on authority and control, but absorb natural light, so one can introduce an elegant space when used as a complementary accent.
"A well décor office keeps my mind fresh because most of my time of a day has been spent in office. If the decorum is mundane it does not increase productivity rather it makes me feel lethargic," says Fattah Ahmed, Manager - IOT and Product Innovation, Digital Services at Robi Axiata Limited.
Green and blue are two safer colours where green represents balance and growth. Also blue is associate with depth and stability, it enhances trust, relaxation and intellectual thoughts which can increase your productivity and calmness in workplace.
However, all white and natural colours can invite the monotony in having a soothing environment. There you need a splash of red, orange or purple to be introduced in a controlled amount.
Red raises mental energy but sometimes overpowering. It enhances human metabolism. So canteen and breakout zones can be adorn with a pinch of red to boost you up in the break times.
Light purple is said to be conjured up royalty, luxury and ambition where dark purple represents the opposite --- doom and gloom. By combining both, it is possible to make an exciting work environment.
Orange gives us encouragement or mental stimulation which is widely accepted amongst the youth. It creates happiness, success and determination. Last but not the least, yellow is considered as the best colour for areas of teamwork, positivity and happiness.
We can clearly define that it is recommended to paint your office space with colours such as white, green and blue. Stronger colours, can be introduced into an office space, but it is suggested that these should be used only as an accent.
For a long time, it is proved that a lot of work places utilise bright colours in their interior design to give their employees a psychological boost.
