Mousumi Islam, owner of LD Veterinary Hospital and Day Care Centre Limited of Promixco Ltd, opened these facilities aiming to serve the pet owners
Linis, an eight-year-old female dog of Lhasa Apso breed, got very ill once in 2018. Pet owner, Mousumi Islam, ran to many places with her. Her condition was getting worse day by day. Finally, Dr Md Maqsudul Hassan Howlader, came forward to rescue. Therefore, Linis has a significant role behind the establishment of LD Veterinary Hospital and Day Care Centre Limited of Promixco Ltd in 2019.
Hence, Mousumi Islam, proud pet mother of Linis, is the founder managing director of this pet care hospital.
With all the necessary arrangements of pet care, the three-storey building among the high-rising infrastructures of sector 7, Uttara, is waiting to make your pet feel at home in whatever physical condition s/he is.
The day care service has been introduced to the relief of the pet owners. Even when abroad, your pets will remain secure with the best service provider who would look after each and every need of the animal. This may cost up to Tk1500 per day.
The institution that started its journey with one veterinary doctor, now has three doctors and a dedicated team of 11 skilled members.
"Compared to the increasing number of pet animals in the country, the number of hospital and diagnostic centre is inadequate. Besides, the lengthy process of getting treatment in government hospitals are dissuading many from seeking help. So, this privately run hospital is gaining popularity," said Dr Md Maqsudul Hassan Howlader, chief consultant, LD veterinary hospital and day care centre.
It is equipped with advanced technology to diagnose pets. The hospital has one ECG and Ultrasound room and one pathology room where blood test and other pathological tests are done. Hence, there is one emergency room named "Alpha" where critically injured patients are taken for basic check-ups.
Besides, there are two operation theatres equipped with advanced anaesthesia apparatuses and patient monitoring and post-operative rooms where the pets are kept until they are cured.
One of the main attractions of the hospital is the pet grooming room "Nora" where you can take your pet for a nice trim and fresh look.
A theme park for the pets is another addition to this hospital. While waiting for the turn to see the doctor, the pet can play in the open space without getting bored. This is a spacious wooden castle of about 15ft by 12ft with green carpet.
While the most common problems of cats and dogs has to do with skin diseases and some viral diseases, every day almost 10-15 patients are being treated in the hospital.
Depending on the physical status of the animal, the cost varies from Tk1,000-Tk2,000. Additionally, regular check-up for dogs cost Tk1,000 and for cats Tk800.
The hospital also provides medication to the injured or sick stray animals if anyone brings them there.
Till now a total number of 600 pets received treatment at this hospital among which 70 per cent are the cat and 30 per cent are the dogs.
