The deadly strain has spread to at least 48 countries till now and at least nine coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Switzerland
A Google employee in Switzerland has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. With this contagion, the company has barred staff travel to Italy, Japan, Iran, and South Korea – the countries that experienced the virus spread.
A google spokesperson confirmed to news media CNBC of the contagion and travel ban.
"They were in the Zurich office for a limited time before they had any symptoms," he said, adding, "We have taken, and will continue to take, all necessary precautionary measures, following the advice of public health officials, as we prioritize everyone's health and safety."
Google's Zurich office, will however, remain operational.
The virus, emerging from the depths of Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan province of China in December last year, has so far claimed the lives of over 2,800 victims. Over 84,000 people worldwide have been infected as the virus steadily continues to grow and spread.
