The first game has four acts or levels, but, the fourth act is actually in our dreams
Horror games have been a popular genre since ages. Amongst that genre lies an unsolved history of "The Hello Neighbour." A game that is categorised in horror has some dark past and mysteries.
TinyBuild, the creator of "Hello Neighbour," did not yet stop just with the first game's official release. "Missing Pieces" was released shortly after the full game, the book contains the dark past of the neighbour; Mr Peterson, filling up the missing pieces of why the player Nicky Roth has been sneaking in the Peterson house.
The first game has four acts or levels, but, the fourth act is actually in our dreams and so the first game ends.
Between the releases of the first and second game, "Hide and Seek" was released. In this game, the players play as Mya, the daughter of the neighbour. She and her older brother Aaron plays hide and seek and many other games. In the first, act Mya has to collect all her toys before time runs out and not get caught by Aaron. However, as the gameplay moves on, we learn that Mrs Peterson, Diane and Mr Peterson get in a car accident, which severely injures Diane. She dies at the hospital. The Peterson family falls apart.
Mr Petersons and the children's mental state are not good so Mya insists Aaron to play games again but Aaron is acting a bit more aggressive because of the current incident and so he harasses his sister, beats her, and takes her toys. In the last game, that they play Aaron hides Mya's doll in the very tip of the house and so Mya goes up there by the ledge of the house. As Mya rescues her doll, Aaron is angry because, she got her doll back and so pushes her, but she was standing at the very edge of a plank and so she falls. Mr Peterson is too late to help her.
This event directly ties in with the book's events later because readers get to experience Diane's funeral and then suddenly see that Mya is missing though it's not told that she is no more. Nicky finds out that Aaron is missing too after a few days and so from there Nicky's journey begins, that is from where "Hello Neighbour" ties in.
Before "Hello Neighbor 2" alpha one came out, TinyBuild made a game named "Hello Guest" which now can't be found anymore in the Play Store because its name is now what we know as "Hello Neighbour 2."
In "Hello Neighbor 2," a reporter named Quentin seeks information of how Mr Peterson went missing. Therefore, the reporter figures out that someone wearing a crow costumes has been living in the neighbor's house and has locked someone or something in a room on the roof. Not every mystery is solved because when alpha one finishes, players open the room on the roof but they find no one. They find only the crow costume, then, when they look through the door, they see the neighbor standing by his car looking angry. As players step outside the door, the game immediately ends.
Who is hiding in the crow costume, where was Mr Peterson all this time, why is he angry, and a lot more questions stay unanswered till alpha two comes out.
