BCB announces 27-man squad for skill camp
The squad consists of 27 members and all of them will be moved to a hotel on September 20 before training starts. The training will be conducted within a bio-secure bubble ensured by BCB.
Bangladesh are set to travel to Sri Lanka for three Test matches in October. Ahead of that, cricketers were doing individual training across the country for quite some time now.
Now, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced the squad for the group skill training ahead of the tour. The skill camp will start on September 20 and will continue until September 26, the day before the Tigers board their flight to Sri Lanka.
The squad consists of 27 members and all of them will be moved to a hotel on September 20 before training starts. The training will be conducted within a bio-secure bubble ensured by BCB.
BCB's chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury explained the creation of a bio-secure bubble for the squad during the Bangladesh team skill camp and how it will work.
"As instructed by ICC, all the cricketing bodies are working on different plans to bring cricket back following the Covid-19 protocols set by the respective countries. England has recently hosted some series and finished the summer successfully. The BCB is also trying to make a bio-secure environment to minimise the risks of Covid-19 on cricket's return to Bangladesh," he said.
"As per the Covid-19 guidelines of the ICC, we will make a bio-secure bubble which will include the hotel the cricketers and supporting staff will stay, the restaurant at which they'll eat, the gymnasium, swimming pool, medical aid room they'll use. We'll have them tested on several phases as well," added Chowdhury.
Earlier, 18 cricketers tested in the second phase of the Covid-19 testing tested negative for the virus.
