Shakib in Crictracker’s all-time T20I XI
He is the only Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in the XI
Though he is away from the cricket field and cricketing activity due to his suspension, Shakib Al Hasan still made it to an all-time T20I XI.
On the occasion of the 1000th T20I, popular cricket website cricktracker picked an all-time XI for the format. Shakib Al Hasan is the only Bangladesh cricketer in the XI.
The series opener between India and Bangladesh was the 1000th International T20 match in cricket. A format started as an experimental version in 17 August 2004, has captured the imagination of cricketing fans worldwide in the last 15 years and now is the most popular format of the game.
Crictracker selected a best XI from the best performers in the format in the last 15 years. Not surprisingly though, Shakib Al Hasan made the final cut.
In 76 T20Is, Shakib has 1,567 runs with nine fifties. With his left-arm spin, the 32-year-old scalped 92 T20I wickets with one five-for against the Windies. The ace all-rounder regularly topped the ICC rankings in the last decade.
Shakib is one of the three all-rounders to be picked for the XI. Two Pakistan veterans Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi was also selected.
The XI that cricktracker.com selected:
Rohit Sharma, Brendan Mccullum, Virat Kohli, Shakib Al Hasan, Eoin Morgan, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Rashid Khan, Lasith Malinga, Umar Gul and Imran Tahir.
