Barcelona sign Griezmann after paying release clause
Barcelona have signed Antoine Griezmann for five years after paying his release clause of 120 million Euros.
Barcelona have finally got their hands on World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann, after they paid his release clause of 120 million Euros. Griezmann has signed for Barcelona till June 2024, and his release clause will be 800 million Euros.
Barcelona tried to sign him last year, but Griezmann decided to stay at Atletico for the time being. But they went for him again as soon as his release clause dropped to 120 million Euros from 200, and now have his cherished signature on the dotted line.
The French forward started his career at Real Sociedad where he scored 52 goals and provided 18 goals in his 202 matches for them. He joined Atletico Madrid for 30 million in 2014, where he scored 133 goals and provided 50 assists.
Griezmann won the Golden Boot as France were runners-up in the Euro 2016. He was once again one of the best performers of the team as France reigned supreme in the World Cup last year.
He is likely to take on the No.7 jersey of Felipe Coutinho, who has been rumored to leave the club after his lackluster performances last season.
