How the U-19 champs are spending time in quarantine
Players from the World Champion U-19 talked with The Business Standard (TBS) on how they are spending their time at home in this crisis.
It has not been long since Akbar Ali and co were crowned Under-19 World Champions in South Africa. Since then, they did not have much time to rest. They were grandly felicitated since they returned to the country and after that, they were back to the field with the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (BDPL).
But amidst the coronavirus crisis, everything in the country has come to a standstill. All kinds of sporting events have been suspended and now, the World Champions are at home trying to stay safe from the pandemic.
They are biding their time by watching movies, playing indoor games or playing cricket on the rooftop. But one thing is common among all, they are trying to work on their fitness as much as they can. Even though the cricketers are getting to spend time with their families, they are feeling confined among the four walls. Add to this the cloud of concern over cricket, the World's finest are deeply sunk in monotony.

Akbar Ali
Actually it has become tough to even pass my time. Mainly I am passing my time by watching movies on TV. Besides that, I chat with my family members, spend time with them. I am working on my fitness as much as I can from home. Because even if there are no matches, I must keep myself fit.
I have realised that it is very difficult to stay away from cricket. I play chess, cards with my family to pass my time nowadays.
This is a very serious situation. I am a bit tensed over cricket being resumed rather than being afraid. There is no guarantee of cricket starting again even after a couple of months. So, I have to say this is a very tedious time.
Prantik Nawrose Nabil
To be honest, it is very boring. I am spending my time using my phone, studying a bit and praying. There is nothing to do except for this. There is not much opportunity for training here but I am trying my best to do whatever I can.
I am missing cricket a lot. I have not played cricket for some time now so I would have felt better if the play resumed now. But it is not in anyone's hand to decide. That is why I am keeping my patience and waiting for the day when I will bat again.
Shoriful Islam
I feel really bored. Time outside the field is a punishment for any professional cricketer. I am working on my fitness. I run in the morning and do some freehand exercise.
I have a lot of time. My brother and maternal uncle are here at home with me, we play carrom.
If we stay aware and abide by the rules, we can return to the field very soon. This actually depends on the discipline. If we follow the instructions then we can be free from coronavirus very soon. If we do not, then there is a chance of the situation worsening. I hope that soon we will get out of this situation and return to the field.
Shamim Hossain
I am passing my time at home, not getting out at all. I am working on my fitness. I don't really like movies, so not watching them a great deal.
I am injured so I am working on recovery. That is why I have no opportunity of going out. This is an agonising time but it is good for me. I am getting some rest and getting time to recover. Whatever God does, He does it for the best.
Tanzid Hossain Tamim
My life has become hell because of boredom from staying at home. It is a frustrating time. I am trying to gain as much fitness as I can at home. Besides this, I am watching TV, chatting with my family.
There is little to no opportunity of playing. After my elder sister got married, all the fun went away with her.
Obviously I am a tad tensed about when play will resume. It is understandable that the situation in the whole country is not very good. I only hope that this situation passes by and cricket returns to the field.

I am spending my time at home. I am spending my time watching movies or reading books. I love to read books. I exercise a bit in the morning.
I am working on my fitness as much as I can in my room. Except for that, I swim a lot to work on my fitness. Also, I play cricket at home, there is no other game except for cricket.
I am feeling a tad bad because of staying at home. I really do not enjoy and have anything outside cricket. So I am feeling bad because I am not being able to play cricket. I was playing in the BDPL, which is a big platform. I had a lot of plans but none came to fruition. But we have to accept it because we have nothing to do about it.

There is no other way than spending time at home with my family. My parents, my siblings are here, I am biding my time here with them. Alongside this, I am working on my fitness. I am doing whatever I can do within the house or at the rooftop. Whatever our trainer, Richard Stonier taught us, I am trying to do those at home.
I am playing a lot of indoor games at home like carrom, ludo or chess. But nobody wants such a time. Everybody is worried. I hope that this situation is a passing cloud and soon normal services will resume.
Parvez Hossain Emon
The time is really boring. I can do nothing, I can not practise at all. But I am working on my fitness at home amidst this. I am not doing much except for this, I am not really into indoor games.
I am in a complete fix at this moment. I can not play or get out of my home, this is really painful. I do not know when I will play cricket again.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy
I am passing my time at home chatting with family, using my phone and working a bit on my fitness. I am trying to watch videos and do what Richard Stonier made us do.
Except for this, I play ludo. But this is very difficult as a professional cricketer. There is no guarantee of when I will return to the field, this is really a disturbing time.
Avishek Das
I have nothing to do but stay at home. I am doing as much fitness work I can do in my room. Except for this, I am spending time with my family.
I am playing ludo, cards with my family members. There is no other way, I have to spend time in some way. This is a very difficult time for cricketers, I hope this phase passes out soon and we return to the field.
Shahadat Hossain
There is nothing to do now really. I am spending my time at home and trying to work on my fitness. Except for the fitness routine, the rest of my time is leisure.
Not playing anything in the house but I do play cricket on the rooftop. We, the family members gather and play cricket in the small space on the rooftop. Not playing with anyone outside of my family because of the current situation.
