Preliminary squad to play practice match tomorrow
The 22 players called up for the preliminary squad divided in two sides will play among themselves in the match.
Bangladesh finally returning to international cricket after a long hiatus. The Windies team have already arrived and the series will begin from January 20.
Prio to that, Tigers have already begun their preparation at Mirpur four days ago. Players have done both indoor and outdoor practice after entering biosecure bubble.
Now, Tamim Iqbal and Co. will play two practice matches to test themselves. The first of the two practice matches will take place tomorrow at Bangldesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP).
The 22 players called up for the preliminary squad divided in two sides will play among themselves in the match. Despite naming a 24-man squad, Taskin Ahmed and Parvez Hossain Emon will miss the match. Emon has already been pulled out due to his injury he sustained from before. Taskin has been under three-day observation after he fractured his finger.
The match will begin at 9:45 am BST.
ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal and T20I skipper Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the teams. The teams will be selected during the coach and captains' discussion tonight.
Selectors - Minhazul Abedin Nannu and Habibul Bashar - will be present during the match to observe the players. Habibul Bashar believes this match will help the players to understand where they stand right before the real battle.
"They have practised for four days, now is good time to test their ability. There is a huge difference between practice sessions and match practice, it will greatly help them. It's reall amazing that the players are getting the chance to play two practice matches," Bashar told The Business Standard (TBS).
The last practice match will take place on January 16 at the same venue.
