Shakib gets green signal to play in CPL
Shakib will join the Tridents, who played six matches in the running season and managed only two wins with four defeats.
Bangladesh Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan will be playing in the remainder of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as he got the green signal from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently.
"We've granted NOC for Shakib to participate in the CPL. We hope he'll join the preparation camp ahead of Bangladesh's India tour in November," Akram Khan, chairman of BCB cricket operation committee, told the media on Tuesday.
In the last season of CPL, Shakib was contracted to play for Barbados Tridents but due to an injury, he could not make that. To replace Shakib, the Tridents had roped in Steve Smith.
Shakib will join the Tridents, who played six matches in the running season and managed only two wins with four defeats, after the ongoing tri-series T20I in Bangladesh.
From 2013 to 2017, Shakib played 24 matches in CPL for Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Tridents. The southpaw bagged 25 wickets with the best figures of six wickets for six runs.
Shakib played a total of 302 T20 matches and bagged 350 wickets with four five-wicket hauls and eight four-wicket hauls and scored 4859 runs with 19 fifties.
Along with playing in CPL, Shakib is a regular face in most popular T20 league of the world - Indian Premier League (IPL) - as well.
