‘Digital World 2020’ begins today

To showcase the latest technological innovations, the country's largest tech exhibition 'Digital World 2020' has begun today.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Film Archive in the capital.
President Md Abdul Hamid virtually inaugurated the three-day event at 12pm today as the chief guest.
"The event is a befitting initiative and will further push our progress in the ICT sector", stated the President in his speech.
Organized jointly by the government and various stakeholders from the private sector, this year's event is being held both in-person and virtual platforms due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak presided over the event while A K M Rahmatullah MP, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoPTIT) was present as a special guest.
N M Zeaul Alam, senior secretary of ICT Division, Parthapratim Deb, executive director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), and Syed Almas Kabir president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) were also present during the ceremony.
With the theme 'Socially Distanced, Digitally Connected,' this year's programmes include opening and closing ceremonies, ministerial conferences, seminars, exhibitions, digital world honours, and musical concerts.
The virtual leg of the event also features software showcasing, e-governance expo, eCommerce Expo, freelancer conference etc.
A virtual Mujib Corner will be available in the expo, on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The closing ceremony will be held on the evening of 11 December where Salman F Rahman, adviser to the prime minister on private investment, will be present as the chief guest.
