2 killed as bus hits autorickshaw in Pabna, 7 injured

Two passengers of a battery-run autorickshaw were killed and seven others including the rickshaw driver injured after a bus crashed into their vehicle in Pabna today (15 September).
The accident occurred on Sunday around 11am in Sahapur area on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway, Rowshan Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station said.
The deceased were identified as Shimul Hossain, 32, son of late Abdul Jalil of Sahapur Jashodal village of Pabna Sadar Upazila and Safar Ali, 35, son of deceased Altaf Hossain of Islam Ganti Bhatapara village of the same upazila.
The injured are Hamidul Islam, Rezaul Karim, Shariful Islam, Ismail Hossain, Haresh Ali, Rabiul Islam and Abdul Aziz.
The OC further said, a battery-run autorickshaw was going from Ishwardi's Dashuria to Pabna's Tebunia with passengers. When it reached at Sahapur area, a Ishwardi-bound bus of Sabbir Paribahan hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving all people boarding in autorickshaw injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Pabna General Hospital where Shimul and Safar succumbed to their injuries upon arrival.
As the condition of four of the injured is critical, they have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and the remaining three to Pabna General Hospital, the OC added.
On information, police inspected the spot, he said, adding that the driver fled with the bus.
