ACC sues 7 for emblazing money in Chattogram
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed a case against seven people including former civil surgeon Dr Sarfaraj Khan Chowdhury over corruption in purchasing medical equipment for Chattogram General Hospital.
ACC Assistant Director of Mohammad Sirajul Haque filed the case with ACC headquarters in Chattogram, said Deputy Director Lutuful Kabir Chandan.
In 2014-15, allegation on corruption raised when the accused bought 12 medical equipment for Tk14.93 crore. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine was bought at around Tk 9.95 crore while the actual price of the machine was Tk2.8 crore.
A three-member probe body, headed by then Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mesbah Uddin, was formed to investigate the graft in 2016.
The probe body submitted a report requesting to take proper action against the corruption.
