Bangladesh advances 11 positions
With a PwrIndx rating of 0.7156, Bangladesh ranked 45th out of 137 countries on the Global Firepower index.
PwrIndx (PowerIndex) score is used to calculate the final ranking of a country on the Global Firepower index. The perfect PwrIndx score is 0.0000, which the Global Firepower says is realistically unattainable.
Bangladesh also leaped 11 positions on the 2019 index. On the previous index, the country ranked 56th.
Even though Bangladesh saw its rank improve on the latest index, its total military personnel (1.60 lakh) and defence budget ($1.59 billion) have remained the same, according to the Global Firepower.
The ranking is based on each nation's potential war-making capability across land, sea and air fought with conventional weapons.
It assesses the diversity of each country's weapons and pays particular attention to their available manpower. Geography, logistical capacity, available natural resources, and the status of local industry are also considered.
