Bangladeshi student Devjyoti Das Soumya wins gold medal at Int'l Olympiad in informatics
Devjyoti Das Soumya, a higher secondary student of Sylhet's Jalalabad Cantonment Public School and College has won a gold medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024.
Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam congratulated Soumya and other members of the Bangladesh team at the international high school students' computer science competition.
The adviser said this achievement by Bangladesh's talented young students has elevated the country's honour on the international stage.
Adviser Nahid Islam also expressed his desire to meet with the Bangladesh team after their return from Egypt, according to a statement by the ICT Division.
According to the final results published on Thursday (5 September), Soumya won the gold medal in the competition while Zarif Rahman and Akib Azmain Turjo won two bronze medals for Bangladesh.
IOI is a high school informatics competition. In this event, students solve challenging problems by writing programs, and the winners are considered among the best young computer scientists in the world.
Soumya previously won Silver medal in 2023 and Bronze in 2022 at the same competition.
