5-month-old boy, father among 4 killed in Cumilla road crash

A five-month-old boy, his father, and his grandmother were among the four killed in a collision between a Starline Paribahan bus and a microbus on the Cumilla Chauddagram area of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
The accident occurred around 6:30am this morning [6 September] in the Batisa Nankara area of Chauddagram. Two others were injured in the accident, said Rois Uddin, in-charge of the Miabazar highway police outpost.
The deceased were identified as 5-month-old Saimon, his father, Md Mamun, 50, his grandmother Majeda Begum, 70, and the minibus driver, Alauddin Hazari, 27.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Rois said the speeding Starline Paribahan bus hit the Dhaka-bound microbus from behind when it slowed down as a truck stopped on the lane.
The microbus was thrown off the highway and got crushed. The driver and three passengers were killed on the spot.
Rois added that the bus and the microbus involved in the accident had been brought to the police station.
