HC asks for probe committee to look into dengue control failure
The committee should be consisted of a Dhaka district judge and a joint secretary of Local Government Ministry.
The High Court today asked authorities concerned to form a probe committee to find the reason behind the failure to control the dengue menace and Chikungunya.
The bench of justices Tariq ul Hakim and Md Iqbal Kabir also asked the committee to submit a report on January 15.
The court also said the committee should be consisted of a Dhaka district judge and a joint secretary of Local Government Ministry.
The committee has been asked to take opinions from professors of relevant disciplines of Dhaka and Jahangirnagar universities, officers of ICDDR,B, Plan Protection and Public Health, and any expert related to the issue.
Earlier on November 6, the High Court sought information on this year's total number of deaths by dengue across the country.
Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mainul Hasan today informed the court that a total of 112 people died from dengue this year.
