High Court bars telecom regulator from realising dues from GP for 2 months
Grameenphone has outstanding dues of Tk12,579 crore
The High Court has issued a two-month injunction today, barring the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) from realising its Tk12,579 crore dues from mobile operator Grameenphone.
The bench of justices AKM Abdul Hakim and Fatema Nazib also fixed November 5 for next hearing on the petition.
Earlier, the BTRC served Grameenphone a notice on April 2, asking it to pay the dues.
The mobile operator then filed a case with lower court, seeking a stay order on the BTRC notice. However, the court rejected the plea on August 28.
After that, Grameenphone filed an appeal with the High Court.
Grameenphone has outstanding dues of Tk12,579 crore, according to BTRC audits.
